OBJECT TO THE REVISIONS!

Following almost 4,500 objections to the planning application, Shropshire Council revised the plans for the North West Road.

We did hope that the council would take on board residents' and stakeholders' issues with the original plans during this process. However, it is clear that the revised plans were primarily designed to address the spiralling cost of the scheme.

The response from campaigners can be found in this Shropshire Star article (3.9.21) New Shrewsbury relief road plans branded 'cynical attempt to sidestep concerns

The planning application and the details on the revisions can be found on the Shropshire Planning Portal.

Having read them and taken expert advice, we do not believe that the revisions make any significant changes, nor do they do anything to stop this being a "road to ruin".

Suspicious minds might wonder if the council is trying to silence the objections by making cosmetic changes to the plans in an attempt to claim that they have won over the public.

If you'd like to object to the new plans, please either email the planning department directly via planning.northern@shropshire.gov.uk or fill in our simple web form below.

This will register that you have 1) already submitted an objection to the original plans and 2) remain dissatisfied with the scheme.

The deadline for objections to the revisions is 5 October 2021. We expect a decision on the scheme later this autumn.

We have put some default text in the form. Please amend this if you wish to.

Note that, while the cost and financial risk to Shropshire Council are important issues, they are not issues that will be considered in a planning application so please don't add anything on the financial aspects (but do raise this with your councillor).
